How To Run A Sub 22 Minute 5K On A Treadmill
Running a 5K in under 22 minutes isn’t even considered fast by many regular runners, but it’s a pretty big deal for a lot of people, including me.
I’m sharing my personal experience of how to break a 22 minute 5K because I’m proud of beating my personal best 5K time, and I hope that my sharing will help you to improve your own 5K run.
2 Things That Helped Me The Most In Improving My 5K Time:
Having Someone To Compete With That You Don’t Want To Beat You. My wife is the 1 for me. We’ve been going back and forth with personal bests and beating each other. It’s a great motivation to have her wanting to do better all the time because it keeps me from slacking for too long.
Having The Right Mindset. If you want to beat your best time you’ve got to feel like you are a star and you deserve it. I’ve found that not doing things that make me feel guilty and not over indulging in pleasures, like over drinking tea, help me to keep a winning mindset.
Eating good and getting enough rest is also important, but I bet you are already aware of that.
Getting your best 5K over and over again definitely requires a strong will too. You’ve got to be able to endure pain at higher levels of intensity to beat old records. Again, the right mind set is going to help you when you’re in the pain and want to give up.
Last, but not least, don’t worry if you feel like there’s no way you can get your best time sometime during your run. I’ve got my 2 best times on days I didn’t think I was going to be able to do it. Concentrate on enduring the pain a little longer and before you know it you’ll be close to done with the run, and more motivated to do what it takes to beat your personal best.
When it comes to beating your personal best 5K remember it’s okay to fail. If you don’t beat your best this time, rethink your strategy and let your instincts guide you to know what you need to do differently next time, and between now and the next time.
